PC-30 — Saints Aloysius Gonzaga & Ignatius of Loyola Prayer Card — Patron of Students
Two Jesuit giants — one card for every student who wants to study with the saints
They are two of the most towering figures in the history of the Society of Jesus — and together on this Saints Aloysius Gonzaga and Ignatius of Loyola Prayer Card, they offer a powerful double intercession for students, teachers, and all who pursue knowledge in the service of God.
St. Ignatius of Loyola was a Spanish soldier turned mystic who, after being wounded in battle and spending months in spiritual reading and prayer, founded the Society of Jesus in 1540 — one of the most influential religious orders in Catholic history. His Spiritual Exercises remain one of the greatest manuals of interior prayer ever written, and his driving motto — Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam, "For the Greater Glory of God" — transformed the way the Church understood the relationship between intellectual life and holiness. The Jesuits went on to found hundreds of universities, schools, and colleges across the world, shaping Catholic education for centuries.
St. Aloysius Gonzaga was born into one of Italy's most powerful noble families in 1568, yet he renounced his title, his inheritance, and every worldly ambition to enter the Jesuit novitiate in Rome. He gave up a privileged life and a princely inheritance to live the vows of religious life — even to the point of contracting the plague through his selfless care for those already sick with it. He died at just twenty-three years old, and was canonized in 1726 and named Patron of All Students in 1729. He is the model of what it looks like to bring a brilliant mind and a surrendered heart to the feet of Christ.
Together, these two Jesuit saints remind every student that the pursuit of truth is never merely academic — it is an act of worship.
Perfect for: Catholic school students, Jesuit university students, back to school season, graduation gifts, seminary students, Catholic academic programs, and anyone who studies for the greater glory of God.
