PC-28 — St. Joseph of Cupertino Prayer Card — Patron of Test Takers
For every student who has ever stared at an exam and prayed for a miracle
Born in 1603 in the small Italian village of Cupertino, Giuseppe Maria Desa was by all worldly measures unpromising. He was considered the dullest child in his village — prone to wandering off, unable to focus, rejected by his family, turned away by multiple religious orders, and described by those who knew him as incapable of learning anything. When he finally managed to join the Conventual Franciscans and was put forward for ordination to the diaconate, his prospects looked grim. He had studied only one Scripture passage and knew it by heart: Luke 11:27 — "Blessed is the womb that bore you." When the examining bishop opened the Gospels at random, his finger landed on that exact verse. Giuseppe answered so brilliantly that he was ordained — and went on to become a priest, a mystic, and one of the most extraordinary saints in Catholic history.
Known as "The Flying Friar," St. Joseph of Cupertino levitated so frequently during prayer and Mass — before hundreds of credible witnesses — that he is now patron of aviators, astronauts, and air travelers as well. But it is his story as a struggling student who passed his exams through grace, humility, and trust in God that has made him the beloved patron of test takers, students, and those with learning disabilities for generations of Catholic families.
If your child has a big test coming up, if you're studying for the bar exam, the MCATs, a licensing test, or any examination that feels impossible — St. Joseph of Cupertino has been there. And he is interceding for you.
Perfect for: Students at every level, Catholic schools and universities, back to school season, SAT and ACT prep, seminary students, children with learning disabilities, and anyone facing a high-stakes exam.
